Installation of 12 feet x 17 feet Blue Oval Standard Gauge Overlap 48 inches/52 inches Pool Liner Pool Liner (NL240-20) is a must for above ground pool owners, it might take years before you replace your overlap pool liner but still, there are factors that can cause your overlap pool liner to deteriorate beyond expected. Factors involve are the weather or the climate, pool chemicals, debris and improper installation and/or maintenance. So, it's better that you know how to replace your overlap pool liner just in case. You may hire a professional or just do it yourself and save your money for the rainy days. If you prefer the latter, here are simple guidelines you should follow: - Removing the old liner. You have to drain the water first for obvious reasons. Make sure that you have drained all the water, you can use a submersible pump or a water hose to siphon the all the water out.
- Look underneath the vinyl liner and you will find usually sand or vermiculite which is a bit firmer. Remove the top cap or stabilizer rails. Once they are removed, look for a metal band on top of plastic clips called coping clips that hold the vinyl liner to the top of the pool wall. When all pieces came off, the old liner will come out easily.
- Clear the entire pool. Remove all debris, rocks from inside pool and around the deck. It is best to cover the ground with black landscaping paper that will serve as protection from any weeds and lay down fine masonry sand on top of it. Cover the sand with pool floor foam. This will make the ground soft, in case someone falls, or jumps into the pool.
- Place the overlap liner in the center of the pool and spread it towards the sides. Keep it center while you are spreading it. It would be better if you install the overlap liner while keeping in mind how you remove the old one out. Clear all the wrinkles to the edges of the pool, have someone on the outside who will check the liner for uniformity in overhang.
- Reinstall Railings and Clips. The last and the easiest part is reinstalling all the clips to keep the lining in place and the top rails. Put in the skimmer and hook up the pump. Refill your pool with water and enjoy your new overlap liner.
